Heritage Reserve – first hunt for 2022
After 6 days of bow-hunting, these three gentlemen spent another 6 days with me at Heritage Reserve in the Northern Cape province near Kimberley in pursuit of the rest of the species they wished to hunt in Africa. This time with the rifles.
What a great experience. As always at Heritage, everything was perfect. From the first-class facilities and the friendly staff to the hunting and the exceptional trophy quality.

After a long day on foot, Andy managed to harvest this truly remarkable Red Lechwe right at last light with a great shot from the shooting sticks.

One of the remarkable things that you will experience at Heritage, is the abundance of wildlife and the healthy numbers of quality animals. We stumbled onto this fine Springbuck ram in the tall grass one morning while trying to get closer to a herd of Red Hartebeest. He presented us with a perfect opportunity at less than 80 yards.

Sometimes you need some luck, as with this beautiful Waterbuck bull. After a few failed attempts at stalking Waterbuck bulls, we found this bull all on his own in mid-day and he presented us with the perfect opportunity at only 60 yards and Greg finished the hunt with a perfect shot.

One of those unforgettable stalks. We saw this lone Roan bull late in the afternoon out the open. With only a few small trees as cover and the wind in our favor we slowly started to follow the bull as he was grazing away from us. Step by step we gained ground on him. After about 600 yards and probably about 40 minutes our patience paid off when Greg made a great shot at 135 yards.

Heritage never ceases to impress with the quality of Red Hartebeest. Shane made a great shot on this remarkable bull.

As with the other Roan bulls we got on this hunt, Shane’s bull was exceptional. He managed to get this bull early on the hunt to set the standard of 28 inches for the other two hunters.

Yet another truly exceptional Red Lechwe bagged at Heritage.

What a great Impala. Yet again Shane did a great job on a perfect shot.

This was one of those opportunities that we could just not pass up. We were not hunting for Blue Wildebeest at the time, but when this beast made his appearance, he immediately got our intention. Greg made a perfect shot and a 30-inch spread confirmed our expectations.
